2025 Festival Favorite Out of My Comfort Zone Lands Nov. 4 PrideFlix Release, Showcasing Award-Winning Coming-of-Age Story with Original Songs
[Los Angeles, CA – October 27] Entertainment Squad’s LGBTQ label PrideFlix launches the exclusive trailer for its latest original film — and confirms a November 4 digital release. The announcement marks a major step for this heartfelt coming-of-age musical, which has garnered festival buzz and won awards globally.
The film (written by Ivy Vale and Rick Reil, directed by Vale) tracks two lifelong friends whose bond is tested by hidden feelings, identity doubts, and the threat of a cyberbully determined to expose their deepest secrets. As stakes rise, they must confront the truth and summon the courage to be themselves — all set to a vibrant, original score. At its core, the story is about friendship, self-discovery, and transformation, evoking echoes of Love, Simon, Dear Evan Hansen and High School Musical while standing on its own voice.
In the lead roles, Will Ehren and Violet Valebring emotional authenticity to the story’s romantic tension; Igby Rigney (recently cast in Ryan Murphy’s The Shards for FX Networks and known for Mike Flanagan’s Netflix series The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass and The Fall of the House of Usher) and Savannah Leroyalso anchor key supporting arcs, lending memorable presence without diluting the central friendship at the film’s heart.
Out of My Comfort Zone began as an off-Broadway stage musical and quickly garnered attention, earning a cover feature on Playbill.com and praise from The Huffington Post, which called it “a singing, dancing powerhouse punctuated by dialogue that rings true and real.”
Director Ivy Vale stated, “Out of My Comfort Zone is a direct response to the overwhelming number of stories about relentless school bullying. It’s hard not to feel helpless—how do you help when it seems like nothing changes? This film became my way of offering hope, where teenagers can see themselves reflected in the characters, feel seen, and find strength, even when life feels impossibly hard. These kids are figuring out how to be unapologetically themselves in the warzone that is school and the world. And honestly, I’m still learning how to do that, too.”
Shaked Berenson, CEO of Entertainment Squad, added, “We believe this film embodies the next wave of inclusive storytelling — musical, accessible, and deeply personal. PrideFlix is committed to being a home for stories that speak to both queer audiences and anyone who’s ever felt on the fringe. The response during early festival previews has already been uplifting, and we can’t wait for audiences to discover it on November 4.”
The film’s festival track is stellar: it has earned honors such as Best Musical Feature at Love Wins International, Best Soundtrack at Cinema d’Idea, Best LGBTQ Feature and Best Original Score at Love & Hope International, Best Comedy at the Madrid International Film Festival, Special Jury Award at the Alexandria Film Festival, and major accolades across Paris, Milan, Chicago, Vancouver, California, Kansas City, Montreal, and more.
With the trailer now live, PrideFlix invites audiences to immerse themselves in a story that is joyful, tense, intimate, and bold, set against the backdrop of an infectious soundtrack.
